Hygge Isn’t All About Candles
I discovered the concept of hygge at a time when I really needed it. I was deep in a seasonal depression and it was a light that helped me find my way out.
The first word I heard of was actually hygge’s Norweigian cousin koseleg (from my friend Anndi.) It sparked my interest, but I didn’t fully grasp it at first.
Since then hygge has become a bit of a buzzword, but its really quite nuanced and is deeply rooted in the Scandinavian culture. Candles & coziness are just the beginning.
At its heart hygge is really about connection. It’s about living a simple contented life with time for self reflection and community.
Sound like something we need? I’m sure that’s why it caught on like wildfire.
